MDOT Kicks Off M-59 Road Resurfacing in White Lake

State Rep. Eileen Kowall and State Sen. Mike Kowall were on hand as the Michigan Department of Transportation and White Lake Township held a ribbon cutting for the project.

Kirk Steudle, director of the Michigan Department of Transportation, reassured business owners and White Lake residents Monday that the three-month, $4 million M-59 resurfacing project would not have a significant impact on driving through the township or on businesses along the M-59 corridor.

will span nine miles from Pontiac Lake Road in White Lake to Milford Road in Highland.

Steudle said one lane in each direction would be shut down between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. every night from Aug. 15 to Nov. 15, but it would be reopened and drivable during the day.

In addition to the resurfacing, sidewalks will be updated to meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements. Sidewalk and traffic signal upgrades may result in some lane closures on weekends, according to MDOT.
