Mitt Romney Wins in White Lake Township, State

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won White Lake Township with 1,777 votes, and is projected to win the state in Tuesday's presidential primary.

It was a slow but steady day at the polls according to White Lake Township officials.

Last week, Election Specialist Ashley Ambury predicted a turnout of 23 to 28 percent of registered voters. According to Oakland County Clerk's Bill Bullard's office, five precincts in White Lake saw a showing of 10 to 20 percent, the rest were between 20 and 30 percent.

"I would say the turnout has been decent (today)," Amburgy said. "Nothing overwhelming to the precincts. It’s hard to compare presidential primaries (voter turnout) because they aren’t held consistently. The last one was in 2008, and then 2000 prior to that."
