Talk About Town: Does White Lake Need a Solicitor Ordinance?

The actions of solicitors in White Lake have prompted some to ask the township to look into a solicitor ordinance.

Recent in White Lake have raised eyebrows in the township and have caused residents to wonder whether it's time for the township Board of Trustees to draft a solicitor ordinance.

According to township officials, there is currently no ordinance regarding solicitors in the township, but several neighborhoods have posted "no soliciting" signs at entrances.

Last week, door-to-door salespeople with Direct Energy were going around to homes, asking to see residents' natural gas bills. Many residents reported that the workers claimed they worked with Consumers Energy and that they would not take "no" for an answer.
