Township Officials OK Funding for Possible Sewer Project During Special Meeting

White Lake's share of the joint project with Huron Valley Schools would total $325,000.

The White Lake Township Board of Trustees approved the transfer of funds from its improvement revolving fund to the sewer fund to supplement a sewer project along Bogie Lake Road for Lakeland High School.

The plans now go to the Huron Valley Schools Board of Education.

The more than $700,000 proposed project would be undertaken jointly by the township and the school district, with the district paying $425,000 up front should the Board of Education approve the project. White Lake will pay about $325,000 to supplement construction costs with the funds transferred to the sewer fund from the improvement revolving fund.

If approved, the township will begin the bid process and finalize engineering plans. The district would be responsible for paying the township all fees incurred and paying the Commerce Township sewer fees. Sewer services in White Lake are run through Commerce Township and its treatment facility.

The township was also notified Tuesday that it received an unqualified opinion from Plante & Moran on its 2010 audit. An unqualified opinion on an audit equates to an A on a report card, according to officials from Plante & Moran.
