White Lake Township Board Approves New Resolution for Lake Neva Repair

The township board met Wednesday to approve bids for various projects throughout the township.

Seven additional properties were added to the tax roll of the special assessment district formed to pay for the Lake Neva standpipe repair. According to township officials, these properties were inadvertently left out of the original resolution.

In August the Township Board approved a resolution to create a around Lake Neva in order to fund emergency repairs to a leaking dam on the lake. The township will tax properties in the district additional monies to payback money loaned to the township by Oakland County to pay for the repaid.

In addition to the Lake Neva resolution, four bids were approved for the following projects:

  • Water tower cleaning
  • Tree cutting
  • A fleet tracking proposal
  • Landscape bid for

The water tower bid was awarded to H20 Towers from Saline for $3,000 to clean and touch-up the water tower located in Settlers Point Subdivision located off Williams Lake Road.

The tree cutting bid was awarded to from White Lake for $4,000. They will remove trees from the area. Supervisor Greg Baroni said in October a tree fell on a vehicle parked near township hall and it caused more than $4,000 worth of damage prompting the township to look at removing the trees.

The bid by Dawson's was not the lowest bid, but Baroni said they offered to cut and clear more than the other companies did, and their crew is electrical hazard certified. Both Trustee Todd Birkle and Treasurer Jay Brendel voted against the motion to accept Dawson's bid. They did not state a reason.

Safety Track was approved to handle fleet tracking for township vehicles. The bid was for $2,077.23. Township Clerk Terry Lilley voted against the bid citing reservations about how staff would react being tracked when driving township vehicles.

Finally, of White Lake was awarded a bid for $1,849.50 to landscape around the maintenance building/concession stand located behind the Dublin Community Center.

The board will meet again for their regular meeting on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Township Hall.
