White Lake Township Board Hammering Away at 2012 Budget

The board has scheduled a series of meetings, and said they might approve the 2012 budget by the end of October.

The Board of Trustees met Wednesday afternoon at the first of four planned budget workshops to discuss departmental line-item budgets for 2012.

The township is looking at bringing in approximately $3,862,350 in revenues in 2012, and spending $3,838,399, leaving a budget surplus of $23,951 for 2012.

In 2011, the township is expected to bring in, and spend, approximately $3,648,895.

Township Clerk Terry Lilley said he would like to see the board approve the budget at the Oct. 18 regular meeting.

"If we can have a budget in place by the end of October that would be great, and something really monumental for this township," Lilley said.

In previous years, such as 2009, the budget wasn't approved until Dec. 28, just days before the Dec. 31 deadline set by the state. In 2010, a budget was not approved until Nov. 14.

All budget sessions are open to the public, and will be held at 4 p.m. on each Wednesday in October until a budget is approved by the township board.
