Huron Valley Schools Offers Schools of Choice and Half Day Kindergarten

The district is now taking applications for various schools of choice options.

The following is a news release from the Huron Valley School District.

Huron Valley Schools is offering its exceptional educational program to students residing outside of the District at no charge. Schools of Choice applications are being accepted for those wishing to attend Huron Valley Schools for the 2012-13 school year. Applicants can be from Oakland, Livingston and Genesee counties.

The District is also opening its half-day kindergarten program to both residents and non-residents. Huron Valley Schools is one of a few districts that still offer the half-day option for parents.

  • Students attend a half day each day and follow the traditional school calendar.
  • The class will be held provided a minimum of 22 students are committed to participating in the program and registered by fall 2012.
  • The program is housed at Kurtz Elementary in Milford.

Unlimited applications are being accepted for kindergarten (both full day and half-day) through 9th grades, except at County Oaks and Heritage Elementaries.

The International Academy West (IAW) is also accepting Schools of Choice applications for students that are entering grades 9th & 10th in the 2012-13 school year and live outside of Oakland County. The deadline for IAW Schools of Choice is August 31, 2012.
