Lakeland High School Student Receives Award for Auto Show Poster Contest

Lakeland Junior wins $100 prize with poster design.

The following is a press release from the Huron Valley School District.

Alek Cummings, a junior from , and a student at the Oakland Schools Technical Campus Southwest in Wixom (OSTC), was chosen as the third place 11th grade winner in the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) poster competition. Cummings was awarded a $100 prize and tickets to the auto show.

The auto show contest was designed to engage creative minds of Michigan’s future artists. The poster entries were judged by a NAIAS 2012 Chairman, a General Motors Automotive Designer, a representative from The College for Creative Studies Instructor and a State Farm Insurance Representative. All winning entries will be posted on the official NAIAS website, www.naias.com and will be on display January 14-22 at the NAIAS 2012. The poster can also be viewed on the Huron Valley Schools website at www.huronvalley.k12.mi.us.

The poster contest was open to Michigan students in grades 10-12. The contest had 88 high schools involved with a total of 891 poster entries. This is the 24th year of the international event and is the most prestigious auto show in the world.
