Lakeland High School Takes Eighth in Band Competition

The Lakeland High School marching band performed "The Fallen Leaves of Memory" for the annual MCBA Championship held Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit.

The 2011 MCBA Championship brought 48 bands from across Michigan to Ford Field on Saturday, to compete in the annual event. Bands were divided into four flights, with each flight containing 12 performances. An awards ceremony was held after each flight and each band received either a plaque or a trophy, depending on their place. Trophies were also given for best music, best effect and best marching. Thousands of family members and fans streamed into Ford Field throughout the day, to cheer on their school and watch some of the best marching in Michigan.
