Local Musicians Plan to Rock the Community this Friday

From 7-10 p.m. Infinity Hour, Brilliance, Cody Sheldon and more will be in the spotlight at Lakeland High School.

A variety of local talent will be taking the stage on Friday from 7-10 p.m. at  for the Rock the Community concert, featuring the band .

Proceeds from the show will benefit the Lakeland Family Assistant Fund and $1 per ticket sold will go to the Huron Valley Education Fund. Infinity Hour band member and Farmington resident, Jena Asciutto, said she would love to see the concert sell out not only to showcase the numerous local bands and songwriters, but to raise as much money as possible for those in need.

“I feel very blessed to be able to perform there and to help raise money for a good cause,” Asciutto said. “We are very excited just to help out people in general, and it’s great that these are local families in need that we can help.”

Brilliance, a hip-hop artist, will be performing in the mix, along with singer and songwriter Lewis Hensley and former American Idol contestant Cody Sheldon. Part of the intrigue of the concert, Rebecca Bond manager for Infinity Hour under Dirty Blonde Management said, is that there is new local talent that will be performing, some in front of their peers for their first time.

“We are trying to bring some undiscovered talent in,” Bond said.

Some of the fresh talent that will be in the limelight include rapper Nick Pisco also known as Avant Guard who just graduated from Lakeland, and the band Syclone. Aside from the new talent, Infinity Hour is excited to take part in such a big concert on its own turf, since two band members attend Lakeland High School and the rest are from Farmington, Hartland.

A few numbers that will be played by Infinity Hour are catchy tunes that haven’t been released yet. One song that Asciutto is stoked to perform is “Angels & Demons” which will involve Brilliance as well as Infinity Hour. The concert will end with a dramatic version of the song “21 Guns” by Green Day, according to Bond.

“We’re excited to see how the audience reacts to the songs they haven’t heard,” Katelyn Perrett, Highland resident and Infinity Hour member said.

A few cover tunes can be expected as well, like “Firework” by Katy Perry and “Beat It” by Fall Out Boy, which are guarantee to get the crowd involved, said Bond.

In addition to the musical lineup, intended to capture audience members of all ages, concessions will be on site. A meet and greet will begin at 6 p.m. at Lakeland for anybody that wants to come early and get photos, autographs or just talk with the slated performers.

“There will be good local bands and it’s good to come out and support your local community,” Scott Rolando, student activities director at Lakeland said. “It’s an all ages event; we want to make sure that people can come on out and have a good time.”

Tickets for the show are $7 if purchased ahead of time, and $10 at the door. With each $7 pre-sale ticket, attendees will receive a free Infinity Hour CD. A family special is available as well. For a family of four tickets are just $20. Tickets can be purchased at Lakeland High School. Students attending Milford High School, White Lake Middle School or Oak Valley Middle School can buy tickets at their lunch hour through June 9.
