Milford Theatre Company Presents Bye Bye Birdie

The first show is Nov. 16 at Milford High School. Tickets are $10 for adults.

The Milford High School Theatre Company is proud to present this year’s fall musical, BYE BYE BIRDIE. Step back into the 1950s when poodle skirts and soda fountains reigned supreme! Sweet Apple, Ohio, gets turned upside down when the rock ’n roll star Conrad Birdie arrives for his farewell performance before his induction into the army. Conrad is giving "one last kiss" to a lucky teenage girl live on the Ed Sullivan Show. Bye Bye Birdie is upbeat and full of
good old-fashioned fun with classic songs such as "A Lot of Livin’ to Do," "Put on a Happy Face" and "The Telephone Hour."

Fifty-Eight Milford High students have been practicing since mid-September, learning the music with Maryann Lambrecht, MHS Vocal Music Director, and Brenda Granroth, MHS Career Coordinator and Accompanist Extraordinaire, the staging with Megan Weeks, MHS English/Drama teacher, and the choreography with Suzanne Jonna of Suzanne’s Main Street Dance.

Over 15 students also make up the crew for the show, serving in such roles as lighting, costuming, make-up, painting, and backstage crew. Lambrecht will be heading up the pit orchestra once again and Tom and Mary Ann O’Brien will be handling the technical direction, sound and lighting. In all, there are over 90 people involved in making this annual fall production a success.
