Nine File for Open Seats on Huron Valley Board of Education

The filing deadline was 4 p.m. Tuesday. Only two White Lake residents are seeking election.

On Nov. 8, White Lake residents have only one race to consider in the election: the race to see who will fill the two seats up for grabs on the Huron Valley Schools Board of Education.

Incumbent Bonnie Brown has filed to try to retain her seat, but Trustee John Knight has said he will not seek re-election after 20 years on the board.

Brown was appointed to the board in December after Debbie Squires resigned from her trustee position.

Not all residents in White Lake will have an opportunity to vote for candidates in the race due to the boundaries of the Huron Valley district and the other four districts that reach into White Lake β€” Walled Lake, Clarkston, Holly and Waterford β€” do not have any races in the 2011 election.

There are no township races in 2011, either; those will happen in 2012.
