Patch Whiz Kid of the Week

This week's honoree is a 10-year-old student athlete.

Who: Carter Filipiak, 10

School:

Accomplishment: Carter competed July 8 in the Hershey Track and Field state finals in Holt, MI. He placed first in the 9- to 10-year-old division for the standing long jump with a jump of 7 feet 2 inches and first in the 50-meter dash with a time of 7.82 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash. Carter is one of five Michigan kids picked to compete Aug. 8 in Hershey, PA. He will be representing the state in the long jump competition.
