School Notes: Art Show and School Play

Here's a roundup of news from the Huron Valley School District.

The Huron Valley Schools elementary art departments are partnering with the Huron Valley Council for the Arts to showcase artwork by students in the district's elementary schools.

"This exhibit is the culmination of a year’s worth of art education and creativity on behalf of both our art teachers and our students," said Janet Roberts, director of community relations for the school district.

"There will be a wide variety of art on display, both two- and three-dimensional, from the elements and principals of art, to realism and abstraction to world cultures."

There will be two opening receptions for this show: 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6-7:30 p.m. Friday. The exhibit will run through March 30 at Highland Station House in Highland.

'Willy Wonka'

, in cooperation with the Lakeland Players Community Theater, will present Willy Wonka from March 11-13 at Lakeland High School.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 11-12 and 2 p.m. March 13. Tickets cost $10.

In addition, there will be a special dinner theater option March 11. Tickets for this fundraising event cost $35 per person, with all proceeds going to the Lakeland High School student assistance program. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m., and the tickets include VIP seating for the show at 7:30 p.m.
