Nominate Your 'Hometown Hero' for Sept. 10 Event

Milford Rotary Club and the William and Marie Carls Family YMCA sponsor the second annual Hometown Hero Celebration from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to remember, recognize and celebrate our Hometown Heroes.

This free community event is a partnership with the Milford Rotary Club and Carls Family YMCA and is designed to strengthen the foundation of the community by providing an afternoon of food, music, games for all ages and a local car show for your entertainment.

Opening the Celebration with a ceremony by our own American Legion Post #216, Celebrate the day with music from that familiar sound of “Half-Wacked w/Kari Holmes”, inflatable games for all ages, free food, some local talent and the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with your community neighbors.

We want to come together as a community to recognize and remember those people in our community that give of their time, talent and treasure to make Huron Valley such a great place.

You can participate by submitting your nomination for YOUR Hometown Hero by Aug. 31 and we will come together as a community and celebrate those who help make our community a great place to live, work, worship and play.

Each of us knows of a person that gives back to the community. Perhaps your next door neighbor who mows your lawn and shovels your snow, a special teacher or instructor, a mentor, a veteran, or perhaps the person that just does what they do expecting nothing in return is your hero. Nominate him or her as your Hometown Hero; each person nominated will be recognized.

Nomination forms are available at the Carls Family YMCA, Huron Valley State Bank or you can download them from the Carls Family YMCA website : www.ymcadetroit.orgcarls
