Huron Valley Gymnastics Team Competes in Finals Friday

The competition to win the state title begins at 2 p.m.

The Huron Valley high school girls gymnastics team will compete in the team state finals Friday at Canton High School.

The competition begins at 2 p.m., and you can see the team's rotation schedules for the beam, vault, floor and bars at the MHSAA website.

According to the MHSAA, Highland-Milford qualified for the state competition by placing third at its regional competition on March 2 with a score of 138.850.

The other 12 teams competing for the state title are Grand Ledge, Rockford, Forest Hills, Freeland, Haslett, Livonia Red, Farmington, Brighton, Birmingham, Canton High School, Plymouth High School and Salem High School.

Grand Ledge has won first place the past five years.

Individual gymnastics finals will be held Saturday at Canton High School beginning at noon.

According to the Huron Valley Recreation and Community Education Facebook page, Huron Valley gymnasts Amber Talaski, Katrina Malysz, Taylor Shotwell, McKenzie Gross and Ashleigh Dubanik will compete for individual titles.
