Huron Valley Travel Baseball Teams Hold Tryouts

The 2012 season will kick off with tryouts in July and August for the 11, 12 and 13 and under teams.

Several Huron Valley Youth Baseball travel baseball teams (HVYBSL) will be holding tryouts for the 2012 season.

The 11 and under (11U) Huron Valley Patriot travel baseball team will be coached by Chad Minton who will be in his second year leading the team. The 11U team plans to play in four to five tournaments in 2012, including the regular season of the Kensington Valley Baseball and Softball Association (KVBSA).

The first set of tryouts will begin on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. at Duck Lake Pines #2. The second tryout for the 11U team will be Saturday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. at Duck Lake Pines #2.

The Huron Valley 12U team will be coached by former Eastern Michigan University baseball player Paul Dreslinksi, who currently serves as a high school baseball coach at Novi Catholic Central High School. The 12U team will plan to compete in five tournaments in 2012, including the annual tournament in Cooperstown, N.Y. at the site of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. The 12U team will also compete in the KVBSA.

The advanced 12U team tryouts will be held Sunday, July 24 at Duck Lake Pines at 2 p.m.; Saturday, July 30 at Duck Lake Pines at 10 a.m.; and Sunday, July 31 at Duck Lake Pines at 2 p.m.

The Huron Valley 13U Rebels baseball team is coached by John Hawes, who has seven years of experience and also coaches at the high school level. The 13U team had a 2011 record of 31-11-2 and will compete in five to seven tournaments in 2012. One or two of those likely will require overnight travel. Hawes said he prefers that players come from the HVYBSL or from Huron Valley Schools.

Tryouts will be held on Sunday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Milford High School JV field. Additional tryouts will be scheduled at a later date. To preregister for those future dates, email playpepper@comcast.net.
