Lady Eagles Top Walled Lake Central 28-26

Lakeland wins their first KLAA game.

The lady Eagles topped Walled Lake Central 28-26 for their first win of the KLAA season Tuesday evening. Senior forward Marlayna Malvich and senior guard Jessie Clink lead the Eagles. Malvich was tough on the boards and solid in the lane leading with 9 points. Clink played a strong floor game and ran the half court offense.

Coach Head called a timeout with 40 seconds to play to set up the winning basket. Dominique Zigo got the ball from the corner and hit the four-footer from the baseline for the win. According to Coach Head, “the girls ran the play actually a little different than we diagrammed it which was better than we diagrammed it so give the girls all the credit. Marlyana and Dominique made a great read on that.”

Malvich got her 4th foul with just over four minutes to play and finished strong. She was beaming after the win.
