Lakeland Grapplers Continue Their Winning Ways

Wrestling parent Lori Sokoll provides an update on the Lakeland wrestling team.

The Lakeland Eagles Wrestling Team along with other teams from across the State, traveled to Hemlock, a small town West of Saginaw last Saturday to compete in the Hemlock Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

The entire team continues to improve steadily, and marked this week by having 5 Lakeland wrestlers advancing to the championship round. Underclassmen turned in strong performances with Donovan Carter (Jr.) finishing 2nd at 189lbs and Andy Bovay (So.) earning 6th place honors at 171lbs. The Senior Captains of Lakeland's squad continue to lead by example seeing all 3 earn medals. John Conte placed 5th at 152, Tanner Graham took 3rd at 215 and 189lb Brandon McDonald wrestled up two weight classes capturing a hard fought 3rd place in the 285 weight class.

This week Lakeland travels to cross-town rival Milford for a Quad-Meet, and will then travel to Oxford for the two day Oakland County Championships.
