Lakeland Holds 2011 Varsity Hockey Alumni Game

The fans came out to support the Eagle Varsity Hockey Program last Friday night for the annual Blue - White Alumni game. Bobby Leist (1987) captained the Blue Team which featured players with an odd graduation year, and Mark Leist (1982) captained the White Team which featured players with an even graduation year.  

Greg Docking (2005) opened up the scoring for the Blue Team with the first two goals of the game followed by Michael Keenan (2009) to give the Blue Team a 3-0 lead. Josh Mesclier (2010) put the White Team on the board and Matt Busterna (2008) would get redemption beating current Eagles goaltender Trevor Kalinowski (2013) on a break away. Kalinowski robbed Busterna earlier in the second period making a diving glove save.

Matt Busterna's goal made it a 3-2 game at the half way point. Senior goalie Mitch Leist (2012) came in for the second half for the Blue Team. Ryan Dixon (2008) tied the game at 3-3 for the White Team. Trevor Lloyd (2009) took a nice pass from Jayson Cronk (2009) and beat White Team goaltender Mitch Struble (2008) to make it a 4-3 game.

Steve Camilleri (2006) scored for the White Team to tie it at 4-4. The Blue Team would erupt for 3 goals from Docking (2005), James Unsworth (2011), and Michael Penokie (2007). Terry Barckholtz (1988) would add one more goal for the White Team. Goaltender Mitch Leist (2012) and the Blue Team held off a last minute charge to preserve a 7-5 win over Team White.  

Thank you to all the alumni players and fans that came out to support the Lakeland Hockey Program. The alumni game and night was a success.
