Lakeland Sinks Pirates 34-21

Eagles close out the home season with KLAA crossover win.

The Lakeland Eagles sunk the Pinckney Pirates 34-21 in the final home game of the season. 

Running back Josh Orlando had a career night for the Eagles with 20 rushes for 164 yards along with a 61-yard touchdown scamper after picking up a fumble.

Anthony Waite scored two touchdowns for Lakeland highlighted by a 10-yard fumble recovery on the first play of the second half. Waite scored his second touchdown on a 20-yard sweep at the 7:05 mark of the third quarter for a 34-0 lead.

Sophomore Austen Yeomans also had a big night on defense for the Eagles.

The Pirates fought back with three touchdowns after recovering two onside kicks. Pinckney kicker Brianna Amat converted on three extra points for the Pirates. Amat made national headlines on Sept. 30 by kicking the winning field goal against Grand Blanc after being named Homecoming Queen .

With the win, Lakeland ups it record to 4-4 on the season heading into the final regular season game next Friday against crosstown rival Milford.
