Lakeland Softball Sweeps Milford

In the lead up to league finals, Lakeland adds two more wins to their record.

The Lakeland softball team swept Milford Thursday afternoon in a make-up doubleheader at Milford. Lakeland, the KLAA north division champions, won the first game 7-1 as Selena Hicks struck out 11 on her way to her eighth win of the season.  

Kelly Merkle led the hitting parade for the Eagles with two RBI singles. Lakeland pounded out 13 hits in the first game.

In the nightcap, the Eagles won 7-3 behind the pitching of Anika Wiesinger.

With the doubleheader sweep, the Eagles raised their record to 26-4 heading into the Eagle Invitational tournament on Saturday at Lakeland. The Eagles will play for the KLAA Conference Championship on Monday at 4 p.m. against Hartland at home.
