Lakeland Softball Wins KLAA Association Championship on Senior Day
Adding another championship to the season, Lakeland heads into the district tournament with a 31-5 record.
The Lakeland softball team won the KLAA Association Championship with a convincing 12-4 wins over Plymouth on Senior Day Wednesday.
The Eagles were down 4-1 after 2 innings, but stormed back in the 4th inning by scoring seven runs highlighted by Sierra Burke’s three run homer. Burke’s towering home run over the center-field fence put the Eagles up to stay.
The Eagles pounded out 14 hits to win their second championship this week. Pitcher Selena Hicks lead the hitting barrage by going 4-4 with two RBI singles. Hicks shut down the Wildcats as she fired a three hitter to raise her record to 11-2. Lakeland displayed pride and poise after spotting Plymouth an early 4-1 lead.

It as they won the KLAA Conference Championship on Monday with a 9-2 win over Hartland. Lakeland, with the convincing win on Wednesday over Plymouth, finished the regular season with a sparkling 31-5 record.
Lakeland will host the district tournament which starts on Tuesday, May 29. The Eagles get a bye in the first round and will play the winner of the Fenton vs. Hartland game at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2.
