Lakeland High School Equestrian Team: The Lakeland High School Equestrian Team proved that eagles and horses make a great team! The Lakeland High School Eagles soared to a District Championship win on Saturday at the final district equestrian competition held at the Huron Valley Equestrian Grounds.  Once in the lead following the first competition on September 10th, they rode their way to success each week to clench the District Championship title of the C division by 120 points. The Eagles will move on to Regional competition at Shiawassee County Fairgrounds this Saturday and Sunday where they will face Champions from districts 7, 11 and 12. Congrats Lakeland High School Equestrian Team!

Boys Tennis: The boys fell short, 8-1, against Northville in their 2nd place KLAA divisional crossover. At #1 singles, Alex Kim battled their #1 who has a Top 10 USTA ranking nationally. Alex lost the first set 6-1 but fought back to 7-6 in the 2nd set, losing the tiebreaker 7-3. That player has not lost a set all season.  What a great match. #3 singles Alex Garrigo avenged a tournament loss to their #3 with a dominant 6-3,6-3 victory. Other exciting matches were: #3 doubles, Terry Haren/Drew Peck, who won their first set but eventually lost a close one 6-3 in the 3rd set. #5 doubles, Jeremy Wimmer/John Antishin who lost their first set, won the second, but battled to a 7-5 loss in the 3rd set. In case you're interested, here is some nice Oakland Press coverage of your Eagles tennis team. http://www.miprepzone.com/oakland/results.asp?ID=5460. This past Saturday the team competed in the Brighton Quad with Livonia Stevenson, Brighton, and Canton. Gold medalist with a 3-0 record, was #1 singles Alex Kim who only dropped 5 total games in 6 sets. Lakeland Boys Soccer: The Lakeland Soccer teams finish with a win and 3 ties in the last 2 weeks. They started out with a hardfought 0-0 tie against Bogie Lake rival Walled Lake Northern. In the next game they faced Waterford Kettering. The Eagles were able to score 3 goals, 1 each by senior Tom Kemennu, senior Brandon Dennis and sophomore Nick Kemennu and beat Kettering by a score of 3-1. This week the Eagles took on Walled Lake Western and Waterford Mott.  Both games were great defensive games. The Eagles, led by seniors Nolan Masserman, Scott Demorest and Jacob Alexander on defense kept Western and Mott from taking any quality shots. On the few times that they did have shots senior keeper Daniel Foote made saves, recording 2 more shutouts on the season.  Unfortunately Lakeland wasn't able to score either, ending the week with 0-0 ties against both teams. Lakeland's offense, led by seniors Troy Baertson, Brandon Dennis, Connor Carrigan and Dan Smallegan was able to put together some nice combinations to get off good shots but the opposing keepers made saves to keep the scores at 0-0. The JV team beat Mott 6-0 in their best offensive showing of the season. Sophomore Hunter Sneider recorded the shutout in goal.  Lakeland's goals were scored by freshman Norman Roelfs (2) and sophomores Kyle Moore, Andrew Knox, Mario Koje and Alex Haren.
