Lakeland Volleyball Sweeps WL Western on Senior Night

Squad improves to 18-6 with win.

The Lakeland volleyball team swept Walled Lake Western on senior night to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd.  Seniors Shanna Gitre, Jordan Bromley, Kelly Merkle, Carolyn Niehaus and Lindsay Tanner went out in style as they lead the Eagles to a three game sweep!

Lakeland jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead in the first game.  Western called a timeout to try and slow down the Eagle onslaught.  It didn’t work as they stormed to a 25-8 win lead by Kelly Merkle and Lindsay Tanner.  Western took a 3-2 lead in the second game. The lady Eagles went on a 11-3 run and never looked back taking game two 25-11.

The Warriors seemed to take control in the third game as they took a 7-2 lead.  The seniors put the Eagles back in the game with the help of Carolyn Niehaus and Shanna Gitre.  With the 25-15 win in game three, Lakeland remains unbeaten in the KLAA North division with an 8-0 record.
