Lakeland Wrestler Medals in Weekend Tournament

Lakeland Wrestling has strong showing in Hartland.

On Saturday, participated in the 24 team Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) Individual Wrestling Tournament held at Hartland High School.

At the end of a long and grueling day the best wrestlers in the conference were recognized for their skill, endurance and sheer determination and invited to stand on the podium. This year Lakeland had three wrestlers recognized. Sophomore Eric Gerber at 103 pounds and junior Brandon Calma at 112 pounds both placed seventh in the tournament. Senior Alex Sokoll at 215 pounds brought home a third place medal.

Next up, as the season winds down, will be the district tournaments. Under the direction of their coach, Matt Bishop, the team will stay focused and carry this momentum into those meets.  The team will compete Thursday at Lakeland for the team event and on Saturday at Walled Lake Central for the individual event. 

Editor's note: Lakeland placed ninteenth overall. Milford High School placed twenty-first overall. For Milford, Richard Poole placed sixth at 112 pounds; Luke Rea placed ninth at 152 pounds; and Ryan Brubb places sixth at 160 pounds.
