Two wrestlers go undefeated at weekend tournament.

For the most dedicated of wrestlers January brings a new focus as the countdown to the Individual State Tournament begins. Every practice is critical, weigh in goals must be met and every match matters. When it comes time for district seedings , it all comes down to wins and losses. Lakeland senior captain, Tanner Graham, 215 pound weight class, has methodically approached his opponents and has shown superior technical ability so far this season. With a current record of 26-5, Graham has himself well positioned as he moves forward toward the ultimate destination: the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Last Saturday was no exception as Graham, always an impeccable leader, took his team to a second place finish at the Clio High School Black and Orange Challenge Tournament. Graham, along with sophomore Jon Calma, both fought hard to end up 5-0 for the day. Their flawless wrestling coupled by standout performances by the rest of the team earned the Eagles their first team trophy in many years. Other bright spots of the day were sophomore Andy Bovay at 160 lbs. and senior captain Brandon McDonald at 189 lbs. who both went 4-1 for the tournament.
