Sports Report: Girls Soccer, Boys Golf and Softball Record Wins

The following information is the from the Athletic Department and was first posted on the Lakeland Athletics Facebook Page.

Girls Soccer 

Lakeland girls soccer won a hard fought contest against South Lyon last Thursday by the score of 2-1. South Lyon began the scoring early in the first half when number 18 kicked in a goal following a corner kick. Lakeland Goalie Lauren Reiter and the Lakeland defense lead by seniors Alex Imhoff and Mary Jacobs tightened down for the rest of the game. Lakeland scored their first goal early in the second half when Amanda Lock scored off of a ball flipped to her by Amanda Allen following a corner kick from Morgen Kroezen. Kroezen would score again midway through the second half with an unassisted corner kick goal that bent right between the South Lyon goalie and the post. Lakeland had a total of 19 shots with 7 of them on goal. The league games start Tuesday April 17, away vs. Western, and Thursday April 19 at home vs. Mott.

Softball

The Lakeland softball team played three games this past weekend in the Dowagaic Invitational. The girls played great and beat Niles 7-2, Berring Springs 10-0, and lost a great game against the Indiana State Champs 1-0. Annika Weisinger pitched all three games and allow only 1 earned run.

Boys Golf

The boys golf team won another match Friday against Walled Lake Western, 154-172. The Eagles were led by Alex Kleckner and Justin Pahl, both shooting 36, and Ian Farley, Jake Kneen and Cameron Croft's 41's. The team is 2-0. Next up Mott at Pontiac C.C.
