Two Milford Snowboarders Headed to Sochi 2014 Olympics with Team USA

Two Milford snowboarders are headed to Sochi, Russia, to part of the 2014 Winter Olympics USA Snowboarding Team.

Former Milford Mavericks Danny Davis and Karly Shorr are part of the team announced last weekend by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. The formal announcement won’t be made by the U.S. Olympic Committee until Jan. 27, but all but two spots have been announced

Davis wil compete in the halfpipe event and Shorr in slopestyle, which is new to the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Observer & Eccentric reports.

Davis, who turned pro at age 16, has been close to making it to the Olympics twice before. He was an alternate in 2006, but didn’t go to Turin, Italy, where the Games were held that year. In 2010, he made the team, but he was badly injured in an ATV crash and was unable to go. The 2010 Games were held in Vancouver.
