Sparks in the Park Provides Sizzling Fun in Highland

More than 10,000 people attended the annual Fourth of July fireworks event in Highland Saturday.

The seventh annual Sparks in the Park event at Milford High School was fun for kids of all ages on a sizzling Saturday. The traditional Huron Valley event, sponsored by the Highland/White Lake Business Association, offered food provided by local restaurants, as well as kid’s crafts. Market Avenue featured Michigan crafted products and locally grown plants, flowers and vegetables. Live bands, including Remedy and Bulletproof Snow, performed blue grass, classic rock, pop and original tunes during the afternoon and early evening.

The fifth annual “Great Camp Out" was enjoyed by more than 60 families and sponsored by Huron Valley Recreation & Community Education. A mini tent city was set up adjacent to the baseball and softball fields at the high school. Swimming, hot dogs and smores highlighted this family event.

More than 10,000 attended a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. The Novi concert band played during the fireworks before an enthusiastic crowd as the skies were filled with interesting colors and sounds for more than 25 minutes.
