SAN FRANCISCO – Vandals have been targeting Smart cars, flipping them over on to their rear ends or rolling them over completely, NBC Bay Area reported.

The mini-electric, lightweight cars were targeted over the weekend. Several of the cars were flipped over, sitting on their sides. Some were sitting on their headlights, rear bumpers high in the air, NBC Bay Area reported.

Brandon Michael told NBC Bay Area that he saw six or eight people wearing hooded sweatshirts flipping some of the vehicles: "They looked like they were up to no good and sure enough, they huddled around it and lifted it up."

NBC Bay Area's video report is attached to this post.

I rented a mercedes smart car in europe where they are not much smaller than the other cars. The eurpean version gets 60 mpg and is quite popular despite it's belt reliabilty problems. It's too small in the land of SUVs.

No one cares what you do, say or drive.

Most reviews say it's a handful on the freeway with the front and rear tires so close together you are constantly rocking and a rolling and not in a good way. Deep potholes are another problem sending the thing into the air like a punted football or skittering across all lanes of traffic end over end.. It looks like a wheel chair with a roof and people will laugh at your choice of wheels, especially if you're male.
