Community Marches to Honor Martin Luther King Jr.

Hundreds of local residents and students showed up Monday to the march through downtown Milford.

The sun was out and spirits were high at the 7th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration in Milford.

Huron Valley MLK Day Committee Chair Isaac Perry said he was pleased with the turnout, and that students from all over the area, including Howell and Hartland, made the trek to Milford to march in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

"We think, as a committee, that this holiday is very important to honor," Perry said. "The event is something that we didn't have around as a kid when I grew up in Milford, so when I came back here to teach it was one of my priorities. It's important to look at different, more diverse, aspects of this nation's history for inspiration on how to deal with today's challenges."
