Woodside dedicates new worship center Feb. 2

Counting their blessings, that’s what members of Woodside Bible Church in White Lake are doing as Super Bowl Sunday looms. The significance of the day has nothing to do with football and everything to do with answered prayers.

That Sunday the congregation dedicates its new quarters, an 850-seat worship center that doubles the church’s attendance capacity.

Area residents are invited to attend the celebratory services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. The church is located at 9000 Highland Road in White Lake. Woodside Senior Pastor Doug Schmidt will preach at both services.

“We hope to fill the new worship facility and the gymnasium on Feb. 2 and the following Sundays, too,” said Brad Hulcy, campus pastor. “We are dedicating this room to changing lives through the love of Jesus Christ.”

Dedication day has been keenly anticipated as Woodside White Lake’s membership has climbed over the past 6 years. In order to accommodate attendance of 800, the church held three worship services each Sunday in its dual purpose sanctuary/gymnasium.

Ground was broken in May for the 17,650 square foot facility and excitement mounted as the new structure took shape, according to Hulcy.

“I hope growth continues and we have to go back to three services,” one delighted member told Hulcy.

Woodside's White Lake beginnings go back to 2008, when First Baptist Church of Pontiac merged with non-denominational Woodside Bible Church of Troy.
