@ Fortified comment: "The ones who made comments grouping all religious people, and/orRead More religions as bad, yet claim it is for the intolerance of religion..........are taking the 10% and burdening 100% of believers. THAT is the definition of intolerance. -------lets be clear-----You can't take 10% of something, and smear 100% in the name of tolerance------." I could not agree more with this statement. Not all Christians are Westboro Baptists. Not all Muslims are jihadists. Not all white heterosexual men are pedophiles. Not all Mormons or Christians are against gay marriage (I am living proof of that). Not all atheists are anti-religion. Religion does, however, tend to lump people into the "right" and "not right" category which is not only an elitist attitude but also an inflammatory one. And every religion claims to be "right." As for the PEOPLE within those different religions; not all treat people from other religions (or no religion) that way. Understand, however, that there is a difference between saying "you are hateful for trying to outlaw my love for another person" and "you are going to burn in hell forever and ever and ever." Even if that person believes it to be true, most often those words are used from a personal anger rather than a true concern for the person.

The last article I read was by a 104-yr-old woman who said, "Four shots of whiskey a day. OneRead More in the morning, one at noon, and two before bedtime." Moral: Nobody knows anything about longevity.

This guy looks a lot like me. With some minor differences. He's taller than me, more muscles,Read More better clothes, better looking. But on the plus side I have a nice round stomach. Other than he's balck and I'm white we could be identical twins.

Pets bring such joy to lives. My dog, Ava Gardner, has never literally saved my life, but she sureRead More keeps loneliness from creeping into my front door. And, to be fair, so do my cats - Tina Turner and Cat Stevens.

Colin, although I'm much older than you, I don't have any friends (really). It's much harder whenRead More you get to be my age and don't have any friends. Sometimes, society looks down at people who are "different" (such as how attractive you are, how smart you are, how many friends you have, whether you're single, how much money you have, if you have a "disability", etc.). No matter how hard I tried (and I don't have a lot going against me), I cannot make any friends. People today only have time for themselves. People will contact me only when they are bored and have nothing else to do. Who needs that? Not me. Hold your head high, be yourself, and stand up for what you believe in. DO NOT conform to what other people think you should wear, how you should act, etc. Maintain high standards and don't be a follower.

It would have been easier if God had just put out the fire. Just sayin'.

Nice article, Beth! I agree completely with Shiela. Also appreciate your not editing out the hero'sRead More personal faith. Many in the media would have downplayed it. So thank you! MoJo, God could have put out the fire, but sometimes chooses to use people who believe in Him to accomplish His purposes.
