“You're going to shut your mouth or I'm going to have some duct tape put on it," Judge John McBain told Camia Gamet during her sentencing Wednesday. (Screenshot: WJBK Video)

Doesn't a life in prison sentence inherently mean that she is going to die in prison? He didn't sayRead More he hopes she gets killed. This classy broad was laughing as the family of the deceased described the impact the murder had. He might have lost his cool, but I have no problem with what the judge said, and if she has no empathy at all then I too hope she dies in prison... preferably after serving out a long and lonely sentence.

Well, I was a parent to three, and all are successful medical professionals. Do you watch the newsRead More or know any teachers in public schools. Ask teachers if kids are fine. Most are total brats. When I look at all those on the welfare dole, seems like Darwinism needs a few more million years to weed out the lazy.

Unfortunately, we created the lazy...LBJ's Great Society has spent $Trillions developing an entireRead More segment of society totally dependent on Government for it's survival. Now, that group has grown in such numbers as to be able to elect a Socialist-based representative government. They in turn, continue to provide more and more Government supplied perks. It will be very difficult to halt this death spiral into oblivion. They have control of our primary, secondary and collegiate educational system...literally indoctrinating our children into the Socialist lifestyle...which looks good on paper. It works really well until you run out of someone else's money. We are at the critical tipping point where the takers are dangerously close to out numbering the makers. We need to wake up now.

It doesn’t take much for the “mob mentality,” or “herd mentality” toRead More kick in. It appears this began as a hate crime and then that mob mentality kicked in, and emotions raged blinding all to the reality of their actions. There’s a lot of anger in this country - it doesn’t help that our political, legal and financial leaders are systematically destroying the middle class, creating a much larger, more lethal lower class.
Ron April 16, 2014 at 09:03 am
Michelle,, Please,,, "they PROBABLY bred the hatred for whites in him"....... I wouldRead More agree that we can teach our children ANYTHING we choose to. However,, I cannot imagine how you can make such a blatantly racist assertions without a SHRED of proof. I would suggest that the number of parents that actually knew their child was capable of a crime is quite low,,,, Timothy McVeigh,, Adam Lanza,, both white and both guilty of committing atrocities against innocent people,,,, can you seriously say the same thing about those white families you just said about the young man that attacked Mr. Utash in Detroit? Or do you have a different set of "standards" for white criminals?

Just skip what you were going to do this weekend and take that money and donate it to the Utash family. It's the right thing to do--you'll be helping someone who did the right thing as well. Thank you!

according to a master plan for Detroit promoted a couple of years ago, the idea is to congregateRead More populated areas of the city and move out those who live in sparser settled areas. If that plan comes about, what happened to Mr. Utash will only be the first instance of a way of life. Although regular citizens will move out, there is certainty that the lawless will move into the vacated parts of Detroit. If you stay in a populated part of the city, you should be relatively safe. However, if you have business or pleasure that takes you out of one populated area into another populated area, you will have to pass through the "Sherwood Forest," full of outlaws, in between. Woe betide the innocent traveler, like Mr. Utash, who is caught out there. My response to this is to carve Detroit into three pieces: The City of Grand River (north of I-96 and west of Woodward), The City of Gratiot (north of I-96 and east of Woodward), and The City of Detroit (south of I-96). These cities would be self-sufficient, but could share resources if they wanted to. The benefit would be local control of utilities and services. Also, any empty spaces would be smaller and more easily controlled than ones in the present 139 square miles of Detroit. Additionally, with local control, builders would appear because people apparently want to live closer to the core of an area, which in this case, would be the smaller City of Detroit. Detroit once was a small settlement along the river bank. It expanded to take in a huge area as people flocked in. Why can't it retract in order to meet the current circumstances?

If he hit a black child then i agree racial, however if he hit a white child then it is because heRead More hit the kid, even if black it could be he hit the kid and they had a problem with him doing that. Even though he hit a child that was unattended in the rd is no reason to have the crap beaten out of him. Between the Ferns I am not surprised. This is Oak Park where the proprietary names for an Oak ParkRead More of commerce was falsely registered by a malcontent with a business in West Bloomfield who wants to stop any merging of Oak Park's chamber with the chamber of the perceived city of Sodom. You do not know the half of what is going on in what is now a poor dry community divided by intra religious, ethnic and racial interests. They need to chill out and get along and maybe allow their oldest and largest restaurant/catering/entertainment venue to have the same opportunity to serve wine and beer at a wedding as their insular non profits have. Racially polarized?! You have a lot of nerve playing the race card again for this incident. MyRead More uncle, a white guy, thought he had a little to much to drink one day while leaving the old Wagon Wheel in Troy, so instead of driving he slept in his car for a while. Upon being awakened by Troy's finest, he explained not wanting to drive in his condition. That sounds pretty reasonable, not wanting to hurt someone? They immediately hauled him off to the lockup for some goofy charge. So quit with the sorry excuse of race Ron every time you don't like the outcome of a black behaving badly, or at least wait until it's justified.
K. Scott April 10, 2014 at 08:32 am
Ron, I guess you have no idea about Troy. Last count has residents from more than 100 countries . IRead More suspect this little run in will keep her on the straight and narrow for a while until her frontal lobe develops.
A Concerned Citizen April 10, 2014 at 05:07 pm
Troy PD did the right thing. She admitting to have been drinking too much, and didn't think sheRead More should be driving. She (apparently) had tried to get a cab, and failing that, figured she could call a friend at the Troy PD (you know, using the emergency 9-1-1 instead of calling any of her TPD friends directly with her cell phone). When Troy PD called her back, she clearly thought she was waiting for the 9-1-1 cab to come pick her up. She was abusing the system and the Troy PD kept her off the streets. How should Troy PD have reacted? Should they have taken her home? That's not their job. and it's certainly not the purpose of the 9-1-1 system. If something were to happen while Troy PD was delivering her home, it could have delayed their response to a real emergency. Finally, there's nothing about race in the story, so let's keep it out of the comments!

When I saw this headline, I was dumbfounded at the disgraceful choice of words to intro this story.Read More This shows a lack of respect for the victim and her family, while sensationalizing the tragedy. As always, Detroit Police covering their butts. Or at least trying to. There were MANY dead dogsRead More found in that park last Friday. Not a few, rather many. The problem with DPD is, as always, they are , " alittle too late". So, after the case broke and went viral, DPD decides to go, " check out the park to see what they could find". What did the find? More dead dogs. Had they been there on Friday, they would of found 28 dead dogs, and may have found the other 4 or 5 they found on Monday. Im not sure the day will ever come , that Detroit will ever be that City, that we all hope for, as it was many decades ago. When the police are not willing to attack the root of the problem, and instead scramble for cover up, the City will continue to fall to crumble. Detroit Animal Welfare Group, aka DAWG has photos of dead dogs and the live ones that were saved. There were VIDEOS taken during the rescue and search mission. Most know that Detroit is the dog fighting capital, if anyone has doubts, go see for yourself. Investigate the issue yourself. This issue is a sport for people. They make money on fighting dogs. These dogs suffer horribly. The dogs that lose the fight are then shot, hung, or tossed and left to continue the pain of their death. Cowards cant get a job, but instead make money, at the expense of the voiceless who cant speak up. Disgusting. Until more folks come together, and stand up for the voicless, it will continue. Shame on you DPD. As always, alittle too late.

Wether there are 50,000 strays or 5,000 strays, 28 dead dogs found in Rouge Park or 28 dead dogs inRead More the city of Detroit in one day gives evidence of a significant problem that needs to be addressed! DAWG has received multiple calls of more dead dogs since Saturdays outreach in addition to more strays in Rouge park. DAWG rescue holds outreach missions in Detroit on the first and third Saturdays of every month where volunteers meet to help the strays of Detroit. In just 2 hours time DAWG takes in anywhere from 5-15 dogs every outreach. Many of the dogs are emaciated, sick, have mange, parvo, heartworm, wounds, and some with teeth ground down signifying a previous bait dog. Owners with dogs on chains or no food, water, shelter are educated on proper care of pets on our outreaches and straw and food provided. Michigan Humane Society provides DAWG with a limited number of spay/neuter vouchers to offer assistance of sterilization to those in need in the city also. DAWG has requested a meeting with the Mayor Duggan to work together to help solve the issue. The Detroit Police have not contacted any member of DAWG to verify any information as to the situation or events at Rouge park.

I believe murders such as this are just as much a hate crime as a homicide. It is about time all ofRead More us rose up to fight this terror with all we have. More than half the world demands the death penalty in this crimes as heinous as this. Too many think it is just an African American, or Chaldean problem, or a problem for anyone who risks having a business either in, or close to Detroit. The death penalty should not be invoked easily but it should be on the table and perhaps if our city or state offered a sizeable reward like they do for a lottery for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone committing murder in any case involving robbery or car jacking it would help help get these sub humans off the street. I don't use the term sub human lightly but here it fits. My heart goes out to the Khamarkos family and while I don't live in Ferndale it hits too close to home.
