Four people from the White Lake area were signed up to run the famous race, which was rocked by two explosions about three hours after the winners crossed the finish line.
Two explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon had people carrying bloody spectators into the medical tent set up for runners, according to a report on Back Bay Patch. Reuters is reporting there are no indication how many people are injured, according to a story on the Chicago Tribune website, which also said the explosions happened as people were cheering on those still completing the race. An 18-year-old made comments about getting even with a student at White Lake Middle School, according to White Lake Police.
White Lake Police were called to White Lake Middle School Monday afternoon after an 18-year-old man made some comments about getting even with his 13-year-old ex-girlfriend, according to police. Lt. Don Nankervis said the male, who had recently turned 18, was involved in a social relationship with a 13-year-old student at White Lake Middle School. When the two broke up, Nankervis said, the 18-year-old had made some comments about getting back at the student. As a precaution, police were notified, Nankervis said. Police discovered the bodies of a White Lake couple in a home off Danforth at 9 p.m. Monday.
Police are now releasing the names of the two White Lake residents involved in what officials are calling a murder-suicide. Police Chief Ed Harris said 37-year-old Jason Handy shot his wife, Lorian Handy, 33, multiple times Monday night before turning the gun on himself in their home off Danforth in White Lake. "He only had one visible gunshot wound from what I could see," Harris said. "She had several wounds." Lorian Handy's 8-year-old son was the only other person home at the time. It was a long night for neighbors, police and one White Lake family. According to reports, a husband and wife in their 30s were found dead in a home off Danforth late Monday night. The woman's 8-year-old son ran to a neighbor's house to call for help around 9 p.m., telling police his stepfather had shot his mother, and then himself, according to White Lake Police. Chief Ed Harris said the department had no history with the couple, who had only lived in the area for a year or so. "We've never had any calls, there was no history of violence that we know of," Harris said. The 8-year-old was taken to the station and released to his birth father. White Lake Police Chief Ed Harris confirmed Monday night that the department is investigating the deaths of two people in what appears to be a murder-suicide. Officers were were called to a home on Danforth in White Lake Monday night following reports of gun shots. Upon arrival, two bodies were found inside the home, he said. Harris said the department is not releasing names or the genders of the deceased at this time, but said both are in their 30's or 40's. Harris said there were no other people inside the home. White Lake Police Lt. Don Nankervis said a rash of larcenies have been reported in White Lake near Ormond and White Lake Roads. According to Nankervis, several cars, garages and sheds have been broken into in the last two weeks, and several items have gone missing including electronics and tools. Nankervis said the department doesn't have any suspects at this time, but all of the incidents are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 248-698-4400.

The Oakland County Circuit Court case has been adjourned until the evaluation is conducted.
An independent psychiatric evaluation will be conducted on the man accused of a string of 24 shootings along I-96 in October, according to an article in the Observer & Eccentric. The article states that Raulie Wayne Casteel's attorney is arranging the evaluation, postponing Thursday's pre-trial hearing until the evaluation is complete. Court will reconvene on May 30. According to the Observer & Eccentric, a state forensic psychological exam conducted earlier revealed that Casteel was competent to stand trial but suffers from delusional disorder. Casteel, 43, of Wixom has been charged with 60 felonies in Oakland County, including multiple counts of assault with intent to commit murder, in connection with the shootings that happened in Wixom…

Tyler Oaks, 20, of Farmington Hills, and Leneal Whitehead, 21, of Detroit, were arraigned Wednesday on charges of second degree breaking and entering—a 15-year felony—after being arrested in White Lake. According to a report filed with the White Lake Police Department, the two men were arrested Monday after police responded to a report of a home invasion on the 1000 block of Teakwood in White Lake. The report states that Oaks and Whitehead were apprehended as they were exiting the home through a broken back door. Lt. Don Nankervis said a neighbor called police after seeing the two men enter the home. The neighbor told police that he called the homeowners, who were on vacation, and confirmed that the men were not supposed to be there. The …

An 8-month-old was found unresponsive in Highland on March 28.
Police do not suspect foul play in the death of an 8-month old baby in Highland Township, according to the Observer & Eccentric. As Patch previoulsy reported, deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a home in Highland Township after the baby was found not breathing in his crib at 9:40 a.m. on March 28. According to the sheriff's report, the baby was transferred to Huron Valley Hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead. OCSO Det. Jim Bowie told the Observer & Eccentric that the death does not appear suspicious, but they are waiting on an autopsy report before closing the case.

Don't be alarmed if you see several police officers at the school this week.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Milford Police Department is hosting training at Muir Middle School for several area police agencies, according to an email from Huron Valley Schools. Muir is located at 425 George St. in Milford near E. Summit St. The event is designed to assist police departments in responding to an active shooter. According to the email, residents can expect to see several police vehicles on site at Muir on those training days. The building will be closed to students and visitors during that time.
