Founded in 1948, the White Lake Township Fire Department began as an all volunteer department; it is now a combination career/paid on-call department. The department has 17 full-time firefighters, including the Fire Chief, 23 paid on-call firefighters and one clerical person. The maximum number of people on staff each day is six; the minimum is one. The paid on-call firefighters support the career staff and respond to emergencies from their homes at any time of the day or night.
