Visions for Vacancies: What Should Happen to the Former Blue Moose?

You don't need to be an urban planner to know what Highland needs from this vacancy. Talk about it on Patch.

Sadly, and much to the dismay of area ice cream enthusiasts, the Blue Moose Family Dairy closed its doors for good last week. The building is now listed for sale for $108,000, and the listing states it has a full kitchen. Aside from begging the owners to reconsider and reopen the ice cream shop, what type of business would you like to see locate here?

Blue Moose Family Dairy Closing Doors

The popular Highland ice cream store will shut down for good on Aug. 31, according to the store's owner.

The Blue Moose Family Dairy announced that it's closing its doors for good at the end of the month. The announcement was made on the store's Facebook page Tuesday evening. "We would like to send a BIG, heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you! You have been a real pleasure to serve and get to know," the owner wrote in the post. "Thank you for your kind words over the years about our product, service and staff (we ♥ our employees too...the best!) We hope to see you in the next few days. If not, our very, very best to you!" The owner cited slow business during the off season as one of the reasons for closing down. Almost immediately, fans of the ice cream store began sending goodbye messages.
