Talk About Town: Where Do You 'Buy Michigan'?

What are your favorite Michigan products, and where do you buy them in White Lake?

On Monday, the owners of more than 30 Michigan-based companies and nonprofit organizations featured their products at the Great Lakes Showcase at the Southfield Westin Hotel. The Buy Michigan campaign, which is supported by Gov. Rick Snyder, has paid off for Michigan-Made.com, which has seen a 400 percent sales growth in the past year. In 2011, Snyder, along with top Michigan business executives, launched a $3 billion initiative called Pure Michigan Business Connect to increase purchasing from Michigan companies, help businesses access additional capital and obtain other assistance. Viewfinder: White Lake Farmers Market Opening Day

A photo gallery of opening day of the first ever White Lake Farmers Market.

The White Lake Farmers Market opened on Saturday morning at White Lake Middle School.  Fifteen vendors took part in the inaugural Farmers Market put on by Huron Valley Recreation & Community Education, White Lake Township and Stone Cold Statuary.  Vendors included Bogie Lake Greenhouse, Stone Cold Statuary, Jeni's Ugly Pies, Farm Boy Produce, Roeske Farms, Sweet & Savory Bakery, and Great Harvest Bread Company. Shoppers were able to purchase flowers, produce, vegetables, crafts and baked goods. The White Lake Farmers Market will run on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 22 at White Lake Middle School. Jill Bahm also contributed to this report.
