Police arrested Todd Lloyd Griffin in connection with 16 home burglaries spanning five counties in southeast Michigan.
Updated: 6:59 p.m. Todd Lloyd Griffin, 44, was arrested Monday in connection with 16 home burglaries spanning five counties in southeast Michigan, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard held a press conference on Monday explaining that Griffin targeted homes that were awaiting estate sales or homes of families who were at funerals, earning him the nickname "funeral bandit." Just hours afterwards, Griffin, whose birthday also fell on Monday, was located by local authorities in Colorado at a pawn shop and taken in without incident at 4:30 p.m., according to the Sheriff's Office. A 56-year-old White Lake woman faces a charge of drunken driving, after a vehicle crashed into a house in the 22000 block of Cora Street Sunday night. According to a Farmington Hills Police report, officers called to the home shortly after 7 p.m. found the woman standing near her vehicle. The report indicated that the woman appeared "extremely disoriented", her speech was slurred, and police noticed an odor of intoxicants while speaking with her. The woman refused a preliminary breath test, but consented to a blood test to determine her blood alcohol level, according to the report. On December 3, an 18-year-old Highland woman was accused of rear-ending a car parked at the Speedway Gas Station in Hartland and then leaving the scene, according to a report from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department. According to the report, the female suspect was parked at a gas pump around 11 p.m. when she noticed her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend arrive in a car driven by a 17-year-old female and park at the gas pump next to them. Police say that while the 17-year-old woman went inside the building to pay, the suspect spoke to her ex-boyfriend but said he was being rude to her. Wixom resident Raulie Wayne Casteel was arraigned Wednesday afternoon on charges relating to one of 24 shootings that took place last month along the interstate corridor; more charges are expected.
Raulie Wayne Casteel, 43, of Wixom was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in 53rd District Court in Howell on charges related to one of the three I-96 corridor shootings that happened in Livingston County. Casteel was charged with six counts in connection with the shooting that happened at 2:43 p.m. Oct. 18 on westbound I-96, near mile marker 135 in Howell, The Detroit News reported. A total of 24 shootings took place between Oct. 16 and Oct. 27 in four counties: Livingston, Oakland, Ingham and Shiawassee. The 43-year-old Wixom man arrested in relation to the I-96 Corridor Shootings is set to be arraigned in the 53rd District Court in Howell on charges stemming from crimes committed in Livingston County, according to a press release. The exact time of the arraignment has not been determined, according to police. Police at the Highland Oakland County Sheriff Substation are searching for the man suspected of breaking into a car and stealing a purse at 8:01 a.m. Sept. 24 at Wiggles & Giggles Pre-school, 1131 White Lake Road, according to a police report. A parent left her car unlocked in the parking lot with her purse and lunch on the seat and walked her son into the building, the report said. She returned in a few minutes to her car to see that her purse and lunch were missing from the front seat, according to the report. Police arrested a 48-year-old White Lake woman for disorderly conduct 4 p.m. Sept. 29 at a home on the 9000 block of Mandon Road, according to a police report. Police were called to the residence where the homeowner found an intoxicated woman crawling across her yard, the report said. The woman, who lives on the street, was screaming for her son, according to the report. She was arrested and, because of her high blood alcohol level, was transferred to Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital for treatment. White Lake Township Police responded 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 to an incident where a driver hit a bicyclist on M-59 near Pontiac Lake Road, according to a police report. The man, from Waterford, was driving westbound on M-59 when he clipped the 47-year-old bicyclist, from Commerce Township, while changing lanes, according to the report. The bicyclist sustained minor injuries. The 20-year-old man driving the car was issued a citation by police, the report said. The homeowner told police that upon returning from vacation up north she noticed her jewelry box was missing, the report said. White Lake Township Police arrested a man at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 10 near Kohl's, 7375 Highland Road, for stealing a pair of tennis shoes, according to a police report. The man walked in to the store, put on a new pair of tennis shoes and placed his shoes into the box on the rack, the report said. Employees saw him leave the store wearing the tennis shoes, according to the report, and police found him walking down the side of the road nearby. The shoes were worth $160.
