Our Huron Valley Predator 8th grade girls travel basketball team finished strong on Sunday with a commanding 31-18 victory over Hartland and a 41-14 win over Howell to earn second place in the SELCRA basketball conference. The 9 girls will now move to their respective middle school teams (White Lake Middle, Oak Valley and Muir) and compete against each other on the hardwood beginning in mid January. The team is evenly split between girls that will ultimately attend either Lakeland or Milford High. (Source: Mark Winter)
Lakeland opens home season with come from behind win.
In an exciting, come from behind win, the lady Eagles came away triumphant in their home opener game on Friday night against Wayne Memorial High School. After a low scoring first quarter where both teams struggled on offense, Wayne Memorial came out with a second quarter surge putting up 22 points to Lakeland’s eleven by the half. The Eagles came back at the beginning of the second half ready to play, however, and with Lakeland senior forward Marlayna Malvich, leading the charge, a strong defensive game resulted in a 31-27 score going into the fourth quarter.
