Highland Officials Sworn In

Four-year terms on the Highland Township Board of Trustees officially kicked off Tuesday afternoon.

Highland Township Approves Budget, Pay Increases for Employees

After four years of pay freezes and cuts to full-time positions, Highland Township workers were awarded a two percent pay increase in the 2013 Highland Township budget.

Employees for Highland Township will get a small pay increase in 2013, the first since wages were frozen in 2008, according to outgoing Supervisor Triscia Pilchowski. Pilchowski, who's last day was Friday, said the township board had been very conservative in their budgets throughout the years and were finally in a position to be able to give back to the township employees who have had their full-time hours cuts and wages frozen for at least four years. "I am very happy with the 2013 budget," Pilchowski said. "I think we took the steps we needed to starting in 2003, and were able to carve back expenses and put us in the position we are in now. Its outrageous that the outgoing Supervisor and Treasurer are saddling the incoming Supervisor and Trustees with increased costs. This smells of political payback. This from the Supervisor who "didn't think its Government"s job to attract business. Well thanks for all the vacant buildings, cause you sure didn't do anything to attract business. Highland Township To Meet Wednesday

The Highland Township Board of Trustees will meet at the township office Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. for a regular board meting.

The Highland Township Board is expected to discuss several items at their regular meeting Wednesday, including a public hearing on the budget for the next year, a public hearing on the 2013 Community Development Block Grant funds and the adoption of ordinance 452 - the code of ordinances. According to the township's website, the goal of ordinance 452 is to address inconsistencies with current state law, eliminate any conflicting provisions and redundancies and to eliminate unnecessary regulations. This, the website states, will bring the entire ordinance into alignment with Highland Township policies and procedures. Highland Township's offices are located at 205 North John Street in Highland. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Highland Township To Meet Wednesday

The Highland Township Board of Trustees will meet at the township office Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a budget workshop, and at 7:30 p.m. for a regular board meting.

The Highland Township Board is expected to discuss several items at their regular meeting Wednesday, including the budget for the next year, the hiring of a new employee for the Fire Department and the introduction of ordinance 452 - the code of ordinances. According to the township's website, the goal of ordinance 452 is to address inconsistencies with current state law, eliminate any conflicting provisions and redundancies and to eliminate unnecessary regulations. This, the website states, will bring the entire ordinance into alignment with Highland Township policies and procedures. The ordinance must be read twice before it can be adopted, the board is expected to vote on its implementation at the November meeting.
