Oakland County Sheriff's deputies and White Lake police responded to the incident in Highland on May 13.
Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a home on the 3000 block of Lester in Highland for a reported shooting. According to the report, a man called dispatch and said that shots were fired at the home. The man told deputies that he had left the address before the shots were fired, but returned to find that his friend had been shot in the leg. When police arrived, the homeowner told police that the shots had been fired outside the home in the street. White Lake police were called in to assist at the scene. Oakland County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in Highland on May 4 for a domestic disturbance. According to the report, a woman told deputies with the Highland Substation that her 27-year-old son was out of control and breaking items around the house. Deputies arrived at the home on the 700 block of Milford Road at 11 a.m. and saw the son run out of the back door and away from the home, the report states. A deputy chased after the man and a struggle ensued, according to the report. The deputy struck a wooden screen door during the fight, and received cuts to both arms. The suspect was not harmed. A 10-year-old Highland girl was reported missing April 22 just after midnight. The girl's mother told Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies that she had gone missing from the family's home on the 2000 block of Honeywell Lake Road, and had never run away before. According to the report, the deputies searched the area but were unsuccessful in locating the girl. The aviation unit and K-9 were called out to try and find the girl. Both were unsuccessful. The report states that at 4 a.m. a man called the Sheriff's Highland Substation and said a 10-year-old had knocked on his door asking to call her mother. Brandon Alexander Markes, 16, was arraigned Thursday in 52-1 District Court on one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault by strangulation, one count of criminal sexual conduct first degree and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Markes' bond was set at $1.2 million cash and he remains in custody at Children's Village. He's scheduled to be back in court April 24. According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Markes is accused of raping a 15-year-old Highland girl at knife point. The report filed with the department states that the girl's mother called 911 to report the rape. An 8-month-old was found unresponsive Thursday morning in Highland.
Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a home in Highland Township after an 8-month-old was found not breathing Thursday at 9:40 a.m. According to the report, the baby was transferred to Huron Valley Hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead. The report states that the Medical Examiner’s office was contacted and will be conducting an autopsy. There is no other information being released at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Ross Austin Dimercurio, 18, of Highland and Devin Bradley Newell, 18, of Milford were arraigned Friday on a total of 20 felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from larcenies in both Highland and White Lake. Dimercurio has 11 charges ranging from larceny of a firearm, to felong larceny from vehicle. Newell has nine charges including possession of a controlled substance and felony breaking and entering of a vehicle with intent. Each was given a $50,000 cash bond and both remain in Oakland County Jail. The pair were arrested by Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies in Highland last week after an investigation led deputies to the suspects homes. An 18-year-old from Highland and an 18-year-old from Milford were arrested Wednesday for their roles in 11 larcenies from autos in the White Lake-Highland area. Detective Jim Bowie with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation said the pair were arrested in the parking lot of a local pawn shop following an investigation into a series of car break-ins in the area. The larcenies are connected to the ones reported in White Lake March 4 and March 6. Bowie said deputies received a tip from a local business employee who called deputies after two men came to the business and threw out a stack of CD's and a woman's purse. Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a business March 3 on the 1600 block of Milford Road in Highland after an alarm went off. According to the report, when deputies arrived at the business, S&G Coin and Jewelry, they found the glass on one of the business's doors was shattered. A K-9 unit was called in, and the dog was able to track a scent from the store to to an adjacent parking lot before it was lost. An employee with the business arrived at the scene and went through the store. That employee stated that nothing appeared to missing at that time. The incident remains under investigation.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office, including the substation in Highland, reported several vehicle accidents Tuesday and Wednesday.
More than four inches of wet, heavy snow fell on the White Lake-Highland area Tuesday night, and resulted in several accidents along roadways throughout the area and Oakland County. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said their department, which covers 22 communities including Highland, responded to a total of 91 accidents. The accidents all occurred between 3 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday. The sheriff's office said there were a total of: The weather service forecasts a 60 percent chance of snow Thursday, with accumulations of less than a half-inch. Friday there's a chance of flurries and a high of 27 degrees.
