Highland Adopts Updated Code of Ordinance, Fee Schedule

The Highland Township Board of Trustees met Wednesday night to discuss a number of items, including an updated code of ordinances for the township.

A newly updated code of ordinance for Highland Township was adopted by the township Board of Trustees on Wednesday night during the township's regular board meeting. In addition, a fee schedule that applies to items in both the code of ordinances and the zoning ordinance was approved. According to the township's website, the goal of the code of ordinance – ordinance 452 – is to address inconsistencies with current state law, eliminate any conflicting provisions and redundancies and to eliminate unnecessary regulations. This, the website states, will bring the entire ordinance into alignment with Highland Township policies and procedures. The code of ordinance was approved by the board unanimously. Highland, Huron Valley Schools Discuss Sale of Vacant School

The Highland Township board asked for more information from Huron Valley School district officials Tuesday regarding the now vacant Highland Middle School building. The Board has until March 2013 to decide if they want to purchase the property.

The Highland Township Board and representatives from the Huron Valley School district met Tuesday night at a formal, public meeting, to discuss the now vacant Highland Middle School building. The informational meeting was meant to allow the township board to ask school district officials questions regarding the property. The public was told at the start that the meeting would be a dialogue between only the board members and district. Any public questions were to be directed to Township Supervisor Triscia Pilchowski's office. Township Trustee Barry Sherman was absent from the meeting.
