Home Catches Fire After Gas Leak

The Highland Fire Department and deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's substation were called to a home on July 17 at 4:50 p.m. following reports of an explosion. When police and fire arrived, a portion of the home, located on Fisherman's Drive, was on fire. The homeowners told police they heard a strange whistling sound, and then saw an explosion. A portion of the home then caught fire. There were no injuries reported. Police noted that the back of the home sustained fire damage, and that a grill on the back porch was knocked over - a propane tank was nearby. The incident remains under investigation.
