The pictures may show the perfect kids, but sometimes they might not tell the whole story.
If you are a parent, chances are you know the real story behind all those adorable pictures of smiling kids plastered on the annual holiday cards. It’s the nitty-gritty, down and dirty true story that involves wardrobe malfunctions, hair debacles and all out meltdowns at the photo studio. It’s the fight with your kids about what color shirt they are going to wear or how they will refuse to let you curl, straighten or fix the rat nest on top of their head the morning of pictures. It’s the one where the moms are sweating bullets as they wait for their turn in front of the cameras, chasing toddlers, bouncing infants and carefully feeding Cheerios to bored kids, praying that nothing lands on the perfect holiday outfits you searched weeks for…

Moss, a successful automotive executive. Patton, of Dexter, and Moss appeared together Sunday at the historic Penn Theatre in downtown Plymouth for a screening of It’s a Wonderful Life, where the former actress signed autographs …

Advent has a different start date each year In 2012, Advent starts Sunday, Dec. 2. Despite the fact that most people associate the beginning of the Advent season with Dec. 1, the official dates of the season actually change each year. An anticipatory recognition of the “second coming of Christ,” in the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Moravian, Presbyterian and Methodist traditions; Advent is the period of time preceding Christmas, beginning on whatever Sunday is nearest to Nov. 30. We want to know what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is today, and as my family heads into town for the annual dinner, I've been reflecting on this last year and counting my blessings. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for my family, immediate and extended, and my wonderful in-laws. I'm also thankful for my beautiful home, my three cats, my lovable English Labrador and all the love I have for my husband, Brian. I'm thankful for my job, the people I talk to everyday in White Lake and Highland, and for all my White Lake-Highland Patch readers. So, as you gather around the dinner table today with your loved ones, take a second to reflect and share: What are you thankful for this year? Happy Thanksgiving!
