Following interviews Tuesday night, the Huron Valley Schools Board of Education chose to forgo the rest of the interview process and selected a new superintendent.
Interim Huron Valley Schools Superintendent Jim Baker has been selected as the new superintendent for Huron Valley Schools. The board of education conducted the last two interviews Tuesday night and decided, unanimously, to forgo the rest of the interview process and enter into negotiations with Baker. The Huron Valley Schools Board of Education interviewed two of the four candidates for the superintendent position Monday. Interviews will continue Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lakeland High School.
Honesty, transparency and doing what's best for students were the main campaign platforms for Robert Shaner and Paul DeAngelis - both of whom are candidates to be the next Huron Valley Schools Superintendent. The board of education conducted two of the four scheduled interviews Monday during a special meeting. Each interview lasted 90 minutes. The candidates answered more than 25 questions from board members, and at least three questions from the audience in attendance. Interviews will continue Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Lakeland High School. The job posting for the next superintendent of Huron Valley Schools closed Wednesday, November 28, and 14 applicants have indicated interest. The Huron Valley Schools Board of Education secured the services of the Michigan Leadership Institute (MLI) to assist the search process. According to MLI President Mike Wilmont, the applicant pool consists of a broad range of candidates from sitting superintendents to central office administrators and building principals. Five of the candidates are from outside of the State of Michigan. The Board of Education will meet several times in December to interview applicants. The following December meetings will take place at Milford High School, and all begin at 7 p.m. All meetings are open to the public…

really think this is wonderful news for our district. Mr Baker has shown himself to be the kind of administrator who will do what it takes, ruffle the feathers if necessary, but is committed to doing what it takes to get this district in line.
