February Events at Kensington and Indian Springs Metroparks

Looking for something to do with the kids? Check out these events at the local metroparks.

For additional information or to register for programs at the Indian Springs Metropark Environmental Discovery Center near White Lake, please call 248-625-7280. “Tot Time: “Groundhog Day,” Saturday, February 2 at 10 am, Environmental Discovery Center. The loveable furry groundhog will let us know today whether there is six more weeks of winter or six more weeks until spring! Participants will learn about the interesting lives that groundhogs lead. Children, ages 3 to 5 years, should be prepared to go outdoors to see if they can find where Mr. Groundhog has been hiding out this winter. Fee: $5 per person. Make Your Best Sled for Indian Springs Metropark’s First Cardboard Classic

The Metroparks Cardboard Classic at Indian Springs Metropark takes place Sunday, Feb. 10.

What can you create with a few pieces of cardboard, some tape, paint and glue? Make the fastest and most imaginative two-person sled to compete in the Metroparks Cardboard Classic at Indian Springs Metropark on Sunday, February 10. Children and adults are challenged to create a two-person sled to race down the park’s sledding hill. Fun prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners for fastest and most creative sleds. Registration and creative judging begins at 10:30 am; races start at noon. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the final race, where fun prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners for the fastest and most creative sleds. December Events at Indian Springs and Kensington Metroparks

Whether you're looking to meet Santa Claus, or feed the birds, there's an event for you at Indian Springs Metropark in White Lake and Kensington Metropark in Milford.

The follow are the events listed for both Indian Spring Metropark in White Lake, and Kensington Metropark in Milford for the month of December. A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark and is only $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually for seniors or $5 daily. Michigan Photographer Displays Artwork at Indian Springs Metropark

Michigan-based photographer Bob Guiliani will have his photos showcased at the White Lake park throughout the month of November.

Throughout the month of November, Indian Springs Metropark will host the artwork of award-winning, Michigan-based photographer Bob Guiliani. On display at the park’s Visitors Center, Guiliani’s collection features images taken in Michigan, Alaska, Ireland and Italy, and includes a variety of images ranging from intricate close-ups to expansive panoramas. An artist reception will take place at the Visitor Center on Friday, November 2 from 5 pm to 8 pm, when Guiliani will be on hand to speak with visitors and sign copies of his book, Gallery Plus.
