Local event a no-go due to erratic weather.
The Cardboard Classic, scheduled for Sunday, February 12 at Indian Springs Metropark has been cancelled. “We’ve had a pretty inconsistent winter, and with all the weather changes, we can’t guarantee that we will have enough snow,” said Kassie Kretzschmar, marketing manager for the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. “With all the effort that goes in to making a sled, we hate to see people prepare for this event, only to have it cancelled at the last minute.” Children and adults were challenged to create a two-person sled of cardboard, tape, paint and glue to race down the park’s sledding hill, with prizes to be awarded for winners of the fastest and most creative sleds. For more information, please call 810-494-6026. Located along the Huron and …

Where is your favorite place to sled in and around White Lake and Highland?
Nothing says "snow day" like gathering up the kids and heading to the nearest sledding hill for hours of winter fun. In the White Lake-Highland area, one of the most popular sledding spots is at Kensington Metropark in Milford - in fact, it was even included on a list of best hills by CBS Detroit. Not on the list, but popular in the area, are the hills at Indiant Springs Metropark in White Lake. If you are willing to travel, Farmington's Shiawassee Park was included on CBS Detroit's recent list of the best sledding hills in metro Detroit with the caveat that the hill is so popular, it can sometimes be too crowded. Another nearby hill on the list is Northville's Cass Benton Park on Hines Drive between Six and Seven Mile Roads. Not on the …
