Twelve Oaks Mall To Host Holiday Job Fair, Kohl's Hiring Holiday Help

More than 35 stores will be looking to hire employees for the holiday season at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi. In White Lake, Kohl's and other area retailers are hiring holiday help.

Twelve Oaks Mall of Novi will host a Holiday Job Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 3-7 p.m. The job fair will feature more than 35 mall merchants who are looking to hire part-time and/or full-time holiday employees. The fair will be held in the Lifestyle Café Food Court. Applications for all participating merchants will be available, and some merchants may conduct on-site interviews. The White Lake Kohl's is also hiring holiday help. According to a release from the company seasonal associates can work anywhere from a few hours to more than 20 hours per week, "Typical store jobs include unloading trucks, freight processing, stocking and cash register duties. Hiring began this month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November." Kohl's Still Accepting Nominations for Scholarship Program

The following is a press release from Kohl's. Kohl’s Department Stores is accepting nominations for outstanding young volunteers for the 2012 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program. Nominations for kids ages six to 18 will be accepted through March 15 at kohlskids.com, and nominators must be 21 years or older. Through the program, Kohl’s will award more than 2,200 young volunteers more than $440,000 in scholarships and prizes honoring kids who have made a positive impact on their communities. The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program is part of Kohl’s Cares, Kohl’s philanthropic program focused on improving the lives of children. Energy-Star Rating Raises Kohl's Standing

Shoppers appreciate store's attempts to go green, while township supervisor likes parking lot's approach to handling storm runoff.

Kohl's department store in White Lake isn't just a hub for great deals, fashionable clothes and accessories and functional knick-knacks. It is also one of the 538 Kohl's stores around the country that is proclaimed to be Energy Star-rated, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). To receive the Energy Star label, a store must perform in the top 25 percent of most energy efficient stores in the country. This number is indicated by the amount of energy used and carbon dioxide generated. To maintain an Energy Star rating, that specific store on average is creating one-third less carbon dioxide and using 35 percent less energy than retail buildings of similar size and function. Sometimes things like this are just the right thing to do as opposed to being strategies to gain more business. I doubt my neighbors like me more because I recycle, but I do it anyway. Kudos to Kohl's, and yes we do shop there.   more ›
